FAQs
Serpent Scale® is a patented compound that encapsulates recycled EPDM or rubberized granules in a specially formulated binder adhesive. The result is an incredibly durable, fatigue friendly, antifouling material for a wide variety of applications.
Serpent Scale® panels leverage the remarkable properties of Serpent Scale® by using Coosa panels as the substrate. These are high density, polyurethane boards infused with fiberglass fibers, creating an incredibly strong and light construction material. The coated panels between ¼”-1” in thickness, depending on application, are 40-60% lighter than plywood, and nearly impervious to moisture intrusion, mold, mildew, and insect infestation, and will not rot!
The qualities of Serpent Scale® and Coosa are designed specifically for marine applications. The panels provide lightweight structural strength to the dock structures while the Serpent Scale® covering provides a non-slip, UV, mildew resistant, and maintenance-free surface. Best of all, it provides a cushioned surface that is much cooler in the summer sun than traditional wood and composite decking materials.
Principally, for many of the same reasons it is such a great outdoor flooring surface…it offers excellent biomechanical, fatigue reducing properties, it is highly slip-resistant, ADA compliant, and comes in a variety of colors to compliment any décor. Most anti-fatigue flooring applications are as a “floating floor,” meaning Serpent Scale panels can be easily placed over existing flooring, or a variety of different materials, without disrupting the existing substrate with multiple fasteners…making DIY installation a breeze!
Serpent Scale® is incredibly easy to maintain. It is nearly impervious to stains and fouling…red wine, grease, motor oil, etc. simply washes off with water. On decks, rainwater keeps it clean, and for indoor use, a simple bucket and mop will keep it like new for many years.
From time of order, delivery is usually within three weeks, however, large orders may take longer because each panel is built to order.
We not only offer 24 solid colors but also an almost endless choice of color combinations. However, using lighter color combinations are highly recommended for outdoor use as these have the best heat resistant qualities.
